Hand Made Colourful Indian Dholak Drum | Dholki Damaru Damru | Qawwali | lavani | Bhangra Carefully made in India using a mango wood shell, THIS DHOLAK DRUM HAS A SIMPLE DESIGN with easy rope tension tuning. Traditionally used as an accompaniment for Indian classical dance, the dholak is now used in a huge number of global musical styles. The dholak is A TWO-HEADED HAND DRUM, a folk percussion instrument and is widely used in qawwali, kirtan, lavani and bhangra. The drum features a BRIGHTLY COLOURED EXTERIOR. The perfect addition to any classroom’s percussion selection or even a festival and is ideal tool for teaching about culture and rhythm, all through playing. The projection and tone on this dholak is impressive, made from a mango wood shell, the dholak is usually played with only the bare hands although some styles call for a metal thumb ring, usually played slung over the shoulder standing up, in the lap or under the knee on the floor. The drum has two drumheads which allow a combination of bass and treble with rhythmic high and low pitches, SIMPLE AND COLOURFUL this small double headed Indian drum is perfect for a party, the skins can be tightened or slackened by adjusting the metal rings on the ropes. The drum measures 20cm (l) with a diameter of 17cm | 8 inches (L) with a diameter of 6.75 inches Although it originated in India, the versatile dholak is now used in a huge number of global musical styles. As each drum is individually handmade there will be some colour variations The drum skins are adjustable to raise or lower the pitch of the drum. To adjust, simply move the metal rings further up the drums to tighten, and vice versa to loosen. This makes it easy to adjust at any time, even during a performance. However, once the drum has been tuned to its desired pitch, the metal rings stay secure for stable tuning.
